Nike Golf's Tiger Woods has revealed that he is unlikely to swing any
golf clubs until 2009 and is unsure when he will return to the competitive circuit.
Woods has said in a newsletter sent from his official website tigerwoods.com that "as far as swinging a club, that's not going to happen until next year".
"I just don't have a choice. We simply don't know what type of swelling there would be or if there would be any residual effects the next day once you start wheeling and dealing on the knee."
The 32-year-old added that "everyone's body reacts differently. I could putt right now, but I'm not going to do it".
Woods had surgery during June on his problematic left knee following a play-off victory in the US Open which was achieved despite the golfer being in noticeable pain.
While he recuperates, Woods will reportedly fulfil tasks associated with the AT&T National golf tournament, alongside golf course design consultancy and new video game endorsements.
