Phil Mickelson has revealed that he hopes arch rival Tiger Woods makes it back from injury soon for the good of the game.
Woods has been working his way back to full fitness following a knee operation undergone after his US Open win in June.
The world number one is not expected to play competitive golf until some point in 2009, but fellow American Mickelson can't wait for him to return.
He told the Associated Press: "The reason why we all want Tiger back is because he drives the game of golf. He drives television ratings, the sponsors need him in their events and the fans turn out to see him, so we need him back as soon as possible."
Recently-deposed world number two Mickelson went on: "We're very lucky in the sport of golf to have the number one athlete in the world."
Mickelson was speaking ahead of the Singapore Open which starts on Thursday (November 13th) - Angel Cabrera is the defending champion, but the Argentine will not be appearing at the event.
