The identification and use of pressure points is important for players working on their swing, one PGA expert has highlighted.
Travis Fulton, the US PGA Tour Academy's director of education, has paid special attention to the four pressure points applied to a club when swinging.
One of these is the heel pad of the right hand and the left thumb, which work together to direct the club shaft in the right direction, Fulton says.
The other three are the right index finger, otherwise known as the 'trigger finger', the last three fingers on the left hand, which serve to stabilise the left wrist and also the attachment of the left arm to the side of the body, which aids body rotation during a swing.
"Applying pressure in the proper areas influences the correct alignment of the club shaft, clubhead and the clubface," Mr Fulton summed up.
Application of the correct pressure points can also help create 'lag' in a swing - with the weight of the club being shifted forward from the top of the backswing to the point of impact.
